About this comparison tool
Compare spreadsheets by key columns
Use matching column headers and a unique ID to pair records. If a row moves from position 10 to position 50, the key still connects it to the corresponding updated row.
Changed values and duplicate keys
The comparison reports added records, removed records, altered cell values and duplicate row keys. Ambiguous duplicates require manual review. Dates stored as Excel serial numbers are converted when date formatting is recognised.
Frequently asked questions
Can I compare rows in a different order?
Yes. Choose a unique row key such as Order Number or SKU. The order of rows does not matter.
What happens with duplicate keys?
Repeated keys are shown for manual review, rather than pairing rows ambiguously and reporting misleading differences.
Does this support Excel XLS files?
The tool supports modern XLSX and CSV files. Old binary XLS files need conversion to XLSX or CSV first.
